Synapse has this feature, and it'd make deployment a lot easier, as now you have to manually set up nginx to do so

I'm still debating whether this is useful. For the /server one I can see that it can be used as a port redirect, but in other cases it should not be necessary to redirect, because conduit is already reachable. Did I forget something?

This will be useful for me, since I'm hosting without a web server, I can't bind conduit to both port 443 and 8448.

Is there a reason for why you don't use a web server? You probably want one if you want to host other web services too in the future.

I think that it’s useful for immediate setup, otherwise someone has to patch the file with nginx or the likes, which isn’t very easy to maintain.

Some clients, like Neochat, don't even allow you to log into a matrix server that doesn't respond to the well-known query.
